Pre Yoga Warm-up Exercise – 1
4. Stand at ease, keep distance between feet, hands joined at back.
(a) While inhaling move head towards right up to shoulder lines (line of the eye sight too), come to center while exhaling and move the head towards left shoulder. Repeat 5 times in each directions. Pause and relax.
(b) Lean down head and rotate in a circle (try to touch ears to shoulders) with eyes open. Perform one round each of 5 circles in both the directions.
(c) Also move head, down and up 3 to 5 times. It removes giddiness caused by circular movement of head.
5. Join heels. Inhale fully and retain air in, straighten hands full length, keep hands in front of chest, close your fist keeping thumb inside, and rotate the fists touching each other (like meshed gears) in opposite directions. Do it in reverse direction also. Perform two cycles of 10 each. Relax.
6. Join heels. Inhale fully and retain air in, Join finger and thumb tips, put them touching on shoulders and rotate elbows making a big circle in front. Try to touch both inside edge of elbows while making circles.
7. Chest Expanding: Join heels. Straighten hands full length in front of chest, fingers & palms joined, brings both hands in line with shoulders with deep inhalation and expanding chest. In the final posture inhale little bit more and further stretch the hands back as if stretching a spring, pause for a while and bring back hands in front of chest with slow exhalation. Repeat the exercise 10 to 20 times and relax.
In the subsequent posture, bring elbows in front of chest, fore arms raised vertically at 90º to arms and fist closed firmly. Slowly bring elbows in line with shoulders with inhalation. In the final posture inhale little bit more and further stretch the elbows behind shoulder lines, pause for a while and bring back elbows (touching each other) in front of chest with slow exhalation. Repeat the exercise 5 to 10 times and relax.
