Shashanka Asana (Rabbit Posture)


In Sanskrit, Shashanka refers to rabbit. The Posture of Sadhaka resembles to a sitting rabbit, hence the name.

1. Be seated in Vajrasana. With deep inhalation, bring hands above head from side ways, palms facing each other.

2. Now turn the palms facing forward, join thumbs and with exhalation lean forward by the belt line so as to touch forehead and palms to floor.

3. Retain the air out, loose down face muscles, keep the elbows also on floor, let weight of chest rest over thighs, feel fresh blood circulation in to head and face.

4. Those who have any problem in retaining air may keep on breathing normally.

5. Be also watch full that while leaning, hips keeps on touching the heels.

6. Remain in this posture for a minute and return to normal Vajrasana posture with inhalation in reverse order of practice.

7. Relax after performing three rounds of Shashanka Asana.
