Mayurasana (Peacock Posture)
The figure of Mayurasana practitioner resembles to a walking peacock, hence the name.
1. Be seated on toes and palms, fingers facing towards legs.
2. Bend elbows below chest and slowly transfer body weight over it with straightening legs full length, keep feet joined.
3. Now with deep inhalation and retention lift both legs above floor so that whole body from head to heel becomes horizontal to floor. Keep face looking forward.
4. Stay in this final posture for some time to capacity and come to laying posture.
5. Relax for a few minutes in Balaka Asana.
Benefits of Mayurasana (Peacock Posture) - It is bit difficult to practice Mayurasana for a novice, but after consistent efforts one gets success. It improves complexion of face with increased fresh blood supply, beneficial to eyes, ears and throat. Invigorates gastric organs to function properly, improves digestion system, and increases appetite; makes spinal column stronger and flexible.
